So, The Map of Time, but Felix J. Palma sits in my lap, and I've just finished the first two chapters. Andrew Harrington's character certainly intrigues me, and the first few pages talking about his suicide plan make me wonder, "Why?" of course, but also make me wonder how this particular event with impact the rest of the novel, if it will.

His meeting with Charles, his cousin, and their discussion about Marie Jeannette, the Whitechapel, a "dirty, foul-smelling draggletail" of a whore, whose portrait hangs in Charles' father's library, certainly creates a new layer of intrigue to this tale. The fact that Andrew wants to actually see Marie... well, I'm going to have to read chapter 3 (at least) to see how this pans out. But, so far, I find the writing compelling enough and intellectual enough. I'll comment further after I have read a bit more.
